Position Overview:

Assistant Martial Arts Instructor

An assistant instructor is an extra set of eyes, ears, and hands for the head instructor during classes. Holding targets, correcting students’ technical errors, maintaining order in the classroom, and adding energy to the workout space are a few examples of an assistant instructor’s daily focus. They will concentrate on enhancing each student’s experience by making the head instructor’s teaching more accessible to everyone at any given moment.

Classroom Floor Duties:

· Warmly greet students when they arrive and encourage students as the leave the instructional mats and the building

Helping younger kids sign into class
Lead Student Creeds
Helping kids find and put on sparring gear, tie their belts correctly, etc.
Walking the lines drills/exercises, making small corrections as needed
Keeping kids energized, focused and on task
Learning the class plans, line ups, drills and communications a head instructor uses
Memorize and be able to give mat chat
Learn and execute the Premier Martial Arts Cycle of Instruction
Consistently return targets, bags and pads to their places neatly to keep the floor organized and neat
Assist in motivating and building professional relationships with the students and families
Working towards being able to quality teach classes on their own or with another assistant
Will serve as a “substitute instructor” for the head instructor as well as a regular assistant

Assistant Instructor Hours & Hourly Rate

· Hours available on an “as needed” basis

· Core hours will be 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm Monday to Friday

· Saturday hours are available as well

· Weekly hours of 8 to 20+ available

· Starting at $12.50/hour or higher (commensurate with experience) plus a free program membership

Compensation: $12.50 - $15.00 per hour
